Distant Lands focuses on new and returning characters in previously unexplored areas of the Adventure Time universe. It is a chapter that anyone who has left the series could enjoy, but for someone who waited and had certain expectations of a memorable adventure, they will be disappointed.Adventure Time: Distant Lands is an American animated limited series based on the animated television series Adventure Time, which was created by Pendleton Ward and originally aired on Cartoon Network from 2010 to 2018. In the end we have a correct special, which gets to entertain but does not even reach the expectations that the series already had us accustomed to. PATHETIC villains and look, I don't demand much, but in the end they come to nothing and are not very memorable, even with the appearance of a classic villain from the series. ![]() The plot is quite simple, but it feels like a mixture of many things that you do not finish connecting, due to the fact that they put so many things that are not important nor are they from the main plot, at the same time that the characters do not even have the evolution nor the proper development for an ending, it clearly feels like when one of those episodic chapters ends, that you know the next day it won't matter or influence much. Together Again came out ahead of schedule and honestly it did not surprise much, it is a chapter that brims with nostalgia (too much I would say) becoming a parody of what they were in old adventures of seasons like 5 onwards. Who wouldn't love another round of Distant Lands? After Pep Butt, how about an episode about the pups? Graybles Infinity with Shermy and Beth? I'm curious as to why they shuffled around the order, putting my favorite character's episode next, but it gives me hope they are going to make more. This episode of Distant Lands is a perfect culmination of everything that made the show what it was for the hardcore fanatics. We watch Adventure Time regularly in my household, and I remember one day before HBOMax, my oldest came in while I was watching the minisodes on one of the DVDs, and was surprised she hadn't seen them (she was getting a little burnt out on our toddler's constant demands of Adventure Time being on) and it gave her a nice second wind. ![]() The ultimate adventure had plot points to tie up, but this one is just a total love letter to the entire series. Rather than reckoning with Jake's death, this episode had me reckoning with the entire series. My theory in my last review turned out true, yet false in a brilliant way. I've worked a graveyard shift for the last 10 years, so it seemed really fitting after finishing this that I had taken the day off to watch it at launch with my wife. I have to try not to gush too much in this review. ![]()
